“One of the determining elements of the European migration issue is that no more migrants should arrive in Europe unmonitored”, the Chief Security Advisor to the Prime Minister said on Hungarian M1 current affairs television on Friday evening.

“The other especially important thing is that European Union measures should not represent a further incentive that leads to even more people setting out for Europe”, György Bakondi added.

“The borders must be protected”, he highlighted. “Masses of people must be prevented from arriving in Europe in an uncontrolled manner, and those who do arrive, but are not eligible for asylum, must be transported back. And the countries affected must be assisted with aid; the help must be taken there”, he declared.

He also spoke about the fact that at their meeting on Thursday Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and Italian Interior Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini had also agreed that border protection is a question of will, irrespective of whether we are talking about the EU’s land or maritime border.

According to Mr. Bakondi, it will transpire following the European Parliament elections in what formations and according to what political solutions it may be assured that during the next (Commission and Parliament) term the main issues are not uncertainty, the mass inflow of immigrants, the disregarding of regulations, the threatening of member states and continuous attacks on sovereignty, but the provision of support to the forces that are protecting Europe’s borders.

In reply to a question, Mr, Bakondi said that the number of people who have signed Prime Minister Orbán’s 7-point programme has already exceeded a million and a half, which indicates that a very large proportion of the population supports the Government’s ideas with relation to Hungary’s security and homeland security, sovereignty and the protection of Christian culture.
