The U.S. President and the Hungarian Government represent a similarly strong anti-immigration position, and Hungary is protecting its own borders just like the United States is doing.

Speaking on Kossuth Radio’s “Sunday Paper” show, with relation to the above Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó spoke about the fact that U.S. President Donald Trump will be hosting Prime Minister Viktor Orbán for a working visit on 13 May.

He stressed that the U.S. President and the Hungarian Government represent similar standpoints with relation to several global political dilemmas, in view of the fact that national interests come first for both parties, and they continue to view the security of their citizens as paramount in addition to the protection of Christian values and the achievements of Christian culture.

“In addition, it is no accident that both the United States and Hungary are among the seven countries that voted against the UN Global Compact for Migration”, Mr. Szijjártó said, adding that just as an alliance of anti-immigration forces is in development at European level, a similar alliance is also forming globally.

The Minister underlined the fact that the meeting will also provide an excellent opportunity for Donald Trump and Viktor Orbán to harmonise their anti-immigration positions and activities in international organisations, in addition to which they will also have the opportunity to discuss their bilateral political, economic and defence cooperation.

Mr. Szijjártó also spoke about the fact that the parties hope that at the upcoming European Parliament (EP) elections, European citizens will place the future of the continent in the hands of politicians who represent national interests, instead of the Brussels bureaucrats.

“Because what is at stake at the 26 May European Parliament elections is whether politicians who support migration, or who are against it, gain a majority in the next European Parliament”, the Minister said.

He stressed that the Central Europeans, the Hungarians and the Italians all represent the position that migration must be stopped, but Brussels and several Western European countries would prefer to organise it.

“In contrast, the Hungarian Government represents an ant-immigration standpoint and thinks the European Union can only be strong if it is made up of strong member states”, he pointed out, highlighting that a country or nation can only be strong if it insists on its own culture, religion, historical heritage and traditions.

“Today, they want to take this away from us from Brussels, just as they also want to take away our right to decide for ourselves who we want to live with, or to whom we want to allow entry, or not allow entry, into our own country”, he stated.
