Number of job seekers falls by almost 25 thousand

“Following a low-point in mid-June, the number of registered job seekers in Hungary fell by almost 25 thousand by the beginning of August, which clearly indicates that a favourable turnaround is occurring on the job market”, the Ministry for Innovation and Technology’s State Secretary for Employment Policy Sándor Bodó stated. “The number of people without employment has been falling for the seventh week running thanks to the measures included in the Economy Protection Action Plan”, he added.

Six universities are changing their operational model from 1 August

The founding and maintenance rights of the University of Veterinary Science, the University of Miskolc, the Moholy-Nagy University of Art, the Neumann János University, the University of Sopron and the Széchenyi István University will be transferred to asset management foundations beginning on 1 August 2020. Thanks to the new form of financing, institutions will be able to react more flexibly and rapidly to economic requirements. The government’s goal is for the more modern and calculable operational environment to increase the competitiveness of higher education, and by doing so to enable young Hungarians to be the winners of the future.

“This year’s higher education entry point thresholds were published on Thursday. Three quarters of applicants have gained entry to some kind of course”, the Ministry for Innovation and Technology’s State Secretary for Higher Education, Innovation and Vocational Training József Bódis told reporters at a press conference in Budapest following the publication of the entry limits. In accordance with previous practice, students will receive a direct notice by text message after 8 p.m. today, parallel to which the point thresholds will also be available on the felvi.hu higher education application website.

The government is providing 35 billion forints in funding to health industry manufacturing companies
