According to the Prime Minister’s Chief Security Advisor, we are in the twenty-fourth hour for the European Union to change its immigration policy and stop the uncontrolled influx of illegal immigrants in response to pressure from nation states.

Speaking on Kossuth Radio’s “180 Minutes” program on Thursday, György Bakondi said: “The goal of European diplomatic efforts it to come to an agreement with African countries, including both source countries and transit countries. However, the country that plays the key role, Libya, does not have a stable government that could comply with the agreement if one is successfully brokered”.

“If necessary, European forces must assist in protecting Libya’s borders to stop the mass flow of illegal immigration towards Europe”, he added.

“It is definitely nation states who must come to a decision on Europe’s security and on stopping illegal migration, and it is they who must act in defence of their citizens”, he declared.

Speaking later on Hungarian M1 television’s Thursday morning current affairs program, Mr. Bakondi also spoke about the fact that it was clear at the annual summit of Western Balkan countries in Trieste that a change of approach has begun in the immigration policies of Germany, France and Italy, indicating that if nation states change their immigration policies then that change will also appear in the policies of the European Union, and hopefully the EU “will make the necessary decisions to protect the European continent, European integration and European nation states”.
