According to the Chief Security Advisor to the Prime Minister, the UN’s Global Compact on Refugees aims at helping those who cannot enter a given country with the help of the Global Compact for Migration.

During an interview on Hungarian M1 television’s Friday evening current affairs program, György Bakondi was asked with relation to the fact that during the course of the day Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó announced: Hungary also rejects the UN Global Compact on Refugees because it is dangerous and could encourage the commencement of new migration processes.

The Chief Advisor said that the concept of migration and asylum have been confused continuously since 2015; first they wanted to “portray it” as a refugee crisis, but it was clear that we were talking about an illegal immigration and migration crisis.

“The UN already has in force a well-functioning asylum treaty”, he said. “We are not talking about assisting refugees, but an intent to realise mass resettlement”, he stated. Mr. Bakondi said that in his opinion this is what is served by the migrant visa, the migrant card, and the idea of establishing a uniform border control system and a unified immigration agency.

“At next week’s UN conference in Marrakesh (Morocco), it will transpire which countries will be fulfilling the security expectations of their countries’ populations by not supporting this idea”, Mr. Bakondi indicated.
