Cooperation to retain coupled agricultural subsidies

At the 18 March 2019 session of the of the Agriculture and Fisheries Council, Hungary and Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Latvia, Slovakia and Slovenia requested in a joint statement to increase or at least keep level subsidies coupled to production in the post-2020 EU budget period.

Guide to promote adoption from shelters released

The National Food Chain Office (NÉBIH) has released its new, free, publication “Adopt me” (Fogadj örökbe!) that is meant to provide comprehensive assistance on the adoption of dogs to future owners thinking responsibly. The booklet is freely downloadable from the “Szabad a gazdi” campaign website, and animal shelters and dog pounds may also request it in printed format.

Agriculture contributed the trade surplus in 2018

Agriculture contributed EUR 2.9 billion to the EUR 6.5 billion trade surplus of the national economy in 2018, taking both food and agricultural products exports into account, Minister of State for Agriculture of the Ministry of Agriculture (AM) Zsolt Feldman said on Thursday, at the Agriculture 2019 Conference in Kecskemét.

Collaboration to maintain output-based agricultural funding

At the session of the Agriculture and Fisheries Council on 18 March in Brussels, Hungary requested that output-based funding be maintained at their current level or even increased in the period following 2020 in a joint statement with Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Latvia, Slovakia and Slovenia.

Agriculture Ministry supports petition for maintaining EU agricultural funding

The Ministry of Agriculture wholeheartedly supports the petition launched by the National Chamber of Agriculture (NAK) and the Hungarian Association of Farmers’ Cooperatives (Magosz) for maintaining the level of agricultural subsidies provided by the European Union. A national roadshow will be initiated to promote that cause, Agriculture Minister István Nagy announced at a press conference in Budapest on Tuesday.

79th OMÉK Agricultural and Food Exhibition to be held in Budapest in late September

“The 79th National Agricultural and Food Exhibition and Fair (OMÉK) will be held at the Hungexpo Budapest Fair Center between 26 and 29 September 2019. Organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Agricultural Marketing Centre (AMC), the event will receive 1.2 billion forints (EUR 3.8 million) in financing from the central budget”, Minister of Agriculture István Nagy announced in Budapest on Thursday.
